The incising reveals pure white clay underneath the red slip
outer surface. This pot was
made in the late 1980’s and originally sold by the potters to the
Silver Nugget, a defunct trader in Winslow, AZ.

Large traditional Zia Pueblo pot made and signed by Gloria Gachupin,
sister of the well-known potter Helen Gachupin. The designs used by
Gloria are the same as those used by Helen and her grandmother. This pot
is 7 ‘/2”H x 9 V2”
W, is a coil pot, hand painted with four “Zia birds” and
rainbows and is traditionally fired. Historically, the Zia potters are
known for making utilitarian storage pots that are both beautiful and
sturdy. This Pueblo has been the source of storage jars used in other
Pueblos; the Pueblos having traded their goods for the Zia pottery.

Jackrabbit and moon painting. There are few potters currently practicing
their art at San Felipe and this is an outstanding example of the quality
work being made at San Felipe. This is a traditionally made pot 3-¼” H x 8 ½” W, signed by Marie R. Sandoval.

The incising reveals a red clay pot with a black surface slip providing
the design, which includes a Kachina, surrounded by traditional Acoma
design motif. Originally shown by The Silver Nugget, a now defunct
trader in Winslow, AZ. Includes a photo of the potter holding this pot.
This pot was originally purchased by the collector in the
late 1980’s. $150.00

Traditional Hopi Pueblo wedding vase, 10 ½”H x 5
¼”W, signed by Kathleen Collateta Sandia, currently living at Jemez
Pueblo, NM. This pot is made from clay dug on the Hopi Reservation,
Polacca, AZ. by Kathleen’s father for use by her grandmother, mother,
sisters and herself. It is a coil built pot, hand painted with traditional
classical Hopi feather design and fired in an open, above ground firing.
Kathleen learned her pottery skill from her grandmother Sarah Collateta,
Polacca, AZ., and her mother, a Jemez Pueblo lady married to Kathleen’s
Hopi/Tewa father, Kachina carver Tom Collateta. $200.00
